This guide explains, step by step, how to use CartPanda’s 1-Page Transparent Checkout within your Shopify store while keeping products and orders synchronized between both platforms.
This solution is ideal for merchants who want to improve their conversion rates with CartPanda Checkout without having to fully migrate their store at this time.
Why use CartPanda Checkout with Shopify?
By integrating CartPanda Checkout with your Shopify store, you will be able to:
✅ Use an optimized checkout designed to maximize conversions
✅ Keep your store and product catalog active on Shopify
✅ Automatically sync products, orders, customers, and inventory
✅ Continue using your existing coupons and rules
✅ Prepare your operation for a future full migration without additional work
CartPanda + Shopify Integration Overview
The integration works through an application created within the Shopify ecosystem, allowing secure communication between both platforms. In summary:
- Products are synchronized from Shopify to CartPanda
- Orders completed through CartPanda Checkout are sent to Shopify
- Inventory is updated based on the configured rules
- Customers and coupons are synchronized automatically
- CartPanda Checkout is opened through a secure redirect
Synchronization occurs automatically and in real time after installation.
Before You Begin
Before starting the integration, make sure you have:
- An active CartPanda account. If you would also like to test the checkout, you must have an active subscription plan starting from the Light plan.
- A Shopify store that is operating normally, with administrative access.
- A Shopify Partners account, as the integration app will be created through that platform.
Process Overview
The integration consists of 4 main steps:
- Create a Shopify Partners account — Shopify requires this so that external apps can be installed in your store.
- Create and configure the CartPanda app — You will create an application within Shopify and connect it to CartPanda.
- Enter the credentials in CartPanda — This connects the app you created to your CartPanda account.
- Final configuration and validation — Configure the final settings and perform a test to confirm everything is working properly.
📌 Each step is explained in detail below. Please read carefully before proceeding.
Step 1 – Create a Shopify Partners Account
To integrate CartPanda Checkout with your Shopify store, you must create an app within your Shopify account. To do this, it is mandatory to use a Shopify Partners account — a dedicated account for partners who want to build apps within the Shopify ecosystem.
If you have never accessed the Shopify Partners dashboard before, don't worry — the process is quick and simple.

📌 If you already have a Shopify Partners account, simply log in and skip directly to Step 2.
If you do not yet have an account, follow these steps:
- Click "Create account" in the upper-right corner of the page.
- Choose how you would like to register your account.
(We recommend using the same email address associated with your Shopify store.)
- Complete the registration form with your company information.
Below are the questions you will see and the recommended selections:
How would you like to get started as a Partner?
→ Select: "Create and set up a new Partner organization"
What is your primary focus as a Shopify Partner?
→ Select: "App development"
Where is your business located?
→ Select your country and then your state/province.
Business contact information
→ Fill in the basic information for your store or company.
- Click "Create Partner organization".
🎉 That's it! Your Shopify Partners account has been successfully created.
📌 Be sure to save the email address and password associated with this account, as you may need them again during the next steps.
Step 2 – Create and Configure the CartPanda App in Shopify Partners
Now that you have a Shopify Partners account, the next step is to create an application. This app acts as a "bridge" between your Shopify store and CartPanda — it is what enables communication between the two platforms.
⚠️ It is essential to access the app creation dashboard through the exact path described below. Other access methods may not provide all the settings required for the integration.
2.1 — Access the Dev Dashboard
With the Shopify Partners dashboard open, follow this path in the left-hand menu: App Distribution → All Apps → Visit Dev Dashboard
This will open Shopify's development dashboard (Dev Dashboard), where you will create and configure the app.

2.2 — Create the App
- In the left-hand menu, click "Apps".
- Click "Create app".

- Select "Start from Dev Dashboard".
- Give your app a name.
Suggested name: CartPanda Checkout
📌 The app name is only for your internal reference — your customers will never see it.

2.3 — Configure the App URL
In the "App URL" field, delete the default text ("example.com") and paste the URL below: https://accounts.cartpanda.com/apps/shopify-onboarding
⚠️ Do not leave "example.com" together with the CartPanda URL. The field must contain only the URL above.
2.4 — Disable the App Embedding Option
Just below the URL field, you will see an option called "Embed app in Shopify admin".
Uncheck this option.
⚠️ If this option remains enabled, the app will not function correctly.

2.5 — Add the Required Permissions (Scopes)
Scroll down until you find the "Access" section. Inside it, locate the "Scopes" field.
These permissions tell Shopify what the CartPanda app can access within your store, such as products, orders, customers, and inventory.
Copy and paste the following text exactly as shown into the Scopes field:
read_assigned_fulfillment_orders,write_assigned_fulfillment_orders,read_custom_fulfillment_services,write_custom_fulfillment_services,read_customers,write_customers,read_price_rules,write_price_rules,read_discounts,write_discounts,write_draft_orders,read_draft_orders,read_fulfillments,write_fulfillments,write_inventory,read_inventory,write_locations,read_locations,read_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders,write_merchant_managed_fulfillment_orders,write_order_edits,read_order_edits,read_orders,write_orders,read_product_listings,write_product_listings,read_products,write_products,read_content,write_content,read_themes,write_themes,read_third_party_fulfillment_orders,write_third_party_fulfillment_orders,read_gift_cards,write_gift_cards⚠️ Paste the text exactly as shown above. Do not add spaces, remove permissions, or modify any part of the list. Missing or incorrect permissions will prevent the installation from working properly.

2.6 — Complete the App Creation
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Release".
- A confirmation window will appear.
- No additional information is required.
- Click "Release" again to confirm.

2.7 — Configure App Distribution
Now that the app has been created, you still need to tell Shopify which store it will be installed on. This process is called distribution.
- Click on the name of the app you just created.
- Locate the "Distribution" section and click "Select distribution method".

You will be redirected back to the Shopify Partners dashboard.
- Select "Custom distribution" and confirm.

Enter Your Shopify Store's Root Domain
Next, you need to provide your Shopify store's root domain. This is the original address Shopify assigned to your store when it was created, and it always ends with .myshopify.com.
How to Find Your Shopify Root Domain
- Open a new browser tab and go to: https://admin.shopify.com/
- In the lower-left corner, click "Settings" and then "Domains".
- Copy the domain displayed at the top of the list. It will have a format similar to: yourstore.myshopify.com
⚠️ Do not use a custom domain (such as yourstore.com). Shopify only accepts the original .myshopify.com domain in this field.

- Paste the domain into the Shopify Partners field and click "Generate link".
- An installation link will be generated. Click "Copy".
- Open a new browser tab, paste the link, and press Enter.
Step 3 – Install the App and Connect It to CartPanda
After opening the link generated in the previous step, you will be taken to Shopify's login page. From here, you will complete the connection between the two platforms.
- Log in to Shopify and select the store you want to integrate.
- A confirmation screen will appear showing the permissions the app requires.
- Click "Install app".
- You will be automatically redirected to the CartPanda dashboard, specifically to the Shopify app installation page.
3.1 — Enter the Client ID and Secret
Now you will connect the app you created in Shopify to your CartPanda account.
To do this, you need to copy two authentication keys from the Shopify Dev Dashboard and paste them into the CartPanda dashboard.
How to Obtain the Keys
- Return to the Shopify Partners Dev Dashboard (open it in a new tab so you don't lose your current progress).
- Open the app you created.
- Click "Settings" in the left-hand menu.
- You will see two fields: Client ID And Client Secret
Copy both values.

How to Enter the Keys in CartPanda
- In the CartPanda dashboard in Apps > Cartpanda+Shopify, paste the Client ID into the "Client ID" field.
- Paste the Client Secret into the "Secret" field.
- Click "Import Products".
⚠️ Be especially careful at this stage: do not swap the credentials and do not leave any spaces before or after the values. Any mistake will prevent the integration from being completed successfully.
Step 4 – Final Configuration and Validation
With the app installed, you will see several configuration options in your CartPanda dashboard. Review each one carefully:
Active Integration
Make sure the integration is marked as Active. If it is disabled, the checkout will not work in your store.
Skip Cart Page
This option determines the path customers take before reaching the checkout:
- Enabled: Customers will be sent directly to CartPanda Checkout when they click "Checkout", skipping the Shopify cart page.
- Disabled: Customers will first go through the Shopify cart page before being redirected to CartPanda Checkout.
After reviewing all settings, click Save.
Validate the Integration
To confirm the integration is working correctly, place a test order:
- Visit your Shopify store using its public URL.
- Add a product to the cart.
- Click "Checkout".
- Confirm that you are redirected to CartPanda Checkout.
🎉 If CartPanda Checkout opens correctly, the integration is fully operational!
How Does the CartPanda + Shopify Integration Work?
Once the integration is active, both platforms communicate automatically.
Products
Direction: Shopify → CartPanda (automatic real-time synchronization)
- During the initial installation, your entire Shopify product catalog is automatically imported into CartPanda.
- Any new products created in Shopify after installation are also automatically sent to CartPanda.
- Updates to product titles and prices made in Shopify are automatically reflected in CartPanda.
⚠️ CartPanda does not send products back to Shopify. Product management should always be performed in Shopify.
Orders
Direction: CartPanda → Shopify
- Orders completed through CartPanda Checkout are automatically sent to Shopify.
- Orders created directly within the Shopify admin are not imported into CartPanda.
Tracking Codes
When a tracking code is added to an order in Shopify, CartPanda automatically receives it and updates the order status to "In Transit".
Sending Tracking Information to Shopify (Optional)
CartPanda can also send tracking codes back to Shopify, but this feature must be enabled by the support team.
📌 If a tracking code is modified after it has already been sent, the update is not automatically reflected in CartPanda.
Discount Coupons
Coupons created in Shopify can be automatically recognized within CartPanda Checkout without needing to be recreated.
Coupon imports follow specific compatibility rules. Please refer to the coupon support documentation for additional details.
Order Notes and Product Customizations
Any notes entered by customers during checkout (such as messages, product customization requests, etc.) are sent along with the order to Shopify, ensuring that no information is lost.
Required Adjustments After Installation
Although the integration is active, a few additional changes must be made to your Shopify theme to ensure customers are always redirected correctly to CartPanda Checkout.
If these adjustments are not made, certain native Shopify buttons may send customers to a different checkout flow, causing lost conversions.
1. Remove the Dynamic Checkout Button ("Buy It Now")
Shopify includes a "Buy It Now" button on product pages that sends customers directly to Shopify Checkout, bypassing CartPanda Checkout.
This button must be disabled directly within your Shopify theme settings.
📖 See: How to Remove the "Buy It Now" Button
2. Disable the Side Cart (Ajax/Mini Cart)
Drawer carts, floating carts, or side carts that appear when customers add products to the cart can interfere with the CartPanda redirect process.
We recommend disabling these cart types and using the standard cart page instead.
📖 See: How to Disable the AJAX Side Cart
3. Configure Your CartPanda Subdomain
To provide a more trustworthy checkout experience, configure your custom checkout domain within CartPanda.

Frequently Asked Questions
I Followed All the Steps, But It's Not Working. What Could Be Wrong?
We recommend carefully reviewing the entire setup guide and confirming that every step was completed correctly, especially the most sensitive configurations:
- App URL
- Permissions (Scopes)
- Integration credentials (Client ID and Secret)
👉 In some cases, it may be necessary to restart the setup process from the beginning to ensure everything is configured correctly.
If the issue persists, our support team will be happy to assist you.
My Store Is Not Redirecting to CartPanda Checkout
If customers are not being redirected correctly, the most common causes are:
👉 The "Buy It Now" Button Is Still Active
This button uses Shopify Checkout and must be disabled.
👉 A Side Cart Is Active
We recommend using the standard cart page to ensure proper redirection.
👉 No Active CartPanda Plan
Check Admin → Plans & Billing and confirm that an active subscription is in place (Light plan or higher).
Without an active plan, the integration will not function properly.
👉 Products Have Not Been Synchronized
If necessary, try importing your products again within CartPanda.
Can I Undo the Integration Later?
Yes!
You can uninstall the app and reinstall or reconnect it at any time if needed.
Nothing is permanent, and you have complete control over the integration.
Final Summary
The CartPanda and Shopify integration may seem technical at first, but by following the instructions carefully, you should be able to complete the entire process without difficulty.
The most important thing is to ensure that each step is completed correctly, especially the app configuration and the connection of the authentication credentials (Client ID and Client Secret).
Once completed, your store will be ready to use CartPanda's optimized checkout experience, providing a faster, more efficient, and conversion-focused purchasing journey for your customers. 🐼🚀
