# Discount coupon

# Discount Coupon

Through CartPanda, you can offer exclusive discounts to your customers directly at checkout. Currently, there are two types of discounts available:

* **Discount Coupon:** You provide a code for your customer to enter directly at checkout. This article explains how to set it up.
* **Automatic Discounts:** You define a discount amount that is applied automatically at checkout. This article explains how to configure it.

# Creating a New Coupon

### Step 1

To create a discount coupon, go to our **Discounts** section by clicking here.
Then click **Create Discount** and choose whether to create a discount for an **ORDER** or a **PRODUCT**.

* **Order Discount:** The discount is applied to the total order value.
* **Product Discount:** The discount is applied only to the specific product defined in the rule.

### Step 2

On the next page, start by entering the **Discount Code Name**.
This is the code your customers will use at checkout to apply the discount.

### Step 3

Next, select the type of discount you want to offer:

* **Percentage:** Enter a specific percentage to be applied to the order subtotal.
* **Fixed Amount:** Enter a fixed value (in your currency) to be applied to the order subtotal.
* **Free Shipping:** The discount will apply to the shipping cost, regardless of the shipping method chosen.
* **Buy X, Get Y:** Set a specific product or collection that the customer must buy and a product they will receive for free

|| For product-specific discounts, only Percentage and Fixed Amount are available.

For the **Buy X, Get Y** option, the offer product must be in the cart at checkout. For example, if you set "Buy 1 T-shirt, Get 1 Shorts," the customer must add both items to the cart for the discount to apply.

**Example:** Buy 2, Get 2, with 4 items in the cart:

* The discount is applied once to the 2 cheapest products.
* A tag will show which products received the discount.
* The amount discounted per product is displayed according to the rules.

### Step 4

At this stage, select whether the coupon applies to the **entire order**, a **collection**, or a **specific products**

### Additional Fields

There are optional rules you can set for the discount:

* **Minimum Requirement:** Define rules for the discount to apply, such as a minimum cart value or minimum quantity of items.
* **Customer Qualification:** Apply the discount to all customers or a specific group based on **Tags** (Dashboard > Customers) or email.
* **Coupon Usage Limits:** Limit the total number of times a coupon can be used, or how many times a single customer can use it.
* **Active Dates:** Set a start and expiration date for the coupon.

### **Rules for Multiple Manual Discounts**

By default, only **one manual discount** can be applied per order.
To allow multiple manual discounts:

1. Go to the settings page and enable **Multiple Manual Discounts**.
2. Customers will then be able to use more than one manual discount per purchase.
3. You can also set a maximum number of coupons per order and decide whether only active discounts can be applied.

### **Rule to Prioritize the Highest Discount**

You can prioritize the **highest discount value**.

To enable this feature: Go to **Discount > Settings > Do Not Combine Other Discounts**.
